The drivers’ championship is settled, and I’m not sure if anyone can catch our runaway leader with the number of races we have left. Though judging by my mother’s sprint to the finish, perhaps she’s trying to give Helen a run for her money!

At 24 years and 98 days, Vettel is the youngest double champion in history. Do you think he can make his hat-trick next year? Who are his biggest challengers going into 2012?

Singapore

The season is nearing its completion, and Vettel will surely take the championship in Japan. If I could be bothered to do the maths, I’d tell you how close we are to already having a winner in our FF1 league.

Singapore is fast becoming one of my favourite races of the season. It’s a stunning city, and I’d love to be there when the race is on. And it served us up another interesting race with plenty of action, although I have been consistently surprised by the ups and downs of the Renault team through the season, and their lack-lustre performance in Singapore. Perhaps they’ve never liked this circuit since the controversy of 2008.

Before the results, and as the season comes to a close, I wondered what your thoughts have been on FF1 this season. Are there ways you would like to see our FF1 league improved? Are there ways you think it could become more interactive? Are there things you’d be really disappointed to lose? Or are you happy with the way it is? Red Bull take their first victory in Italy, and Vettel shows that he can overtake, with an excellent move to retake the lead from Alonso on lap 5.

And then there was the lengthy battle between Hamilton and Schumacher, whilst Button managed to pass Schumacher almost immediately. Does this signal that Button is the true leader in the McLaren team now, or was it merely a case of a different set-up?

This was a particularly significant race for Jenson Button who marked his 200th Grand Prix by going on to win the race in Hungary, at the circuit at which he claimed his first Grand Prix victory five years ago. And what a five years it has been for him. If it rains in Hungary, Jenson Button’s your man.

Germany was a race in which the two McLarens had very different experiences: Hamilton going on to win from third, whilst Button just about made it past half race distance before retiring with hydraulic problems.

I’d normally try and write something about each race, but most of them are so long ago now I can’t remember the details.

If you can think back to those sunny streets in Valencia (I seem to remember it being quite a dull race, so I completely understand if you’ve erased the race from your memory too), then below are the scores from that race. The longest grand prix in history and, when the cars were allowed to race, one of the more exciting – including a spectacular end to the race. While it cost me points, it was still very satisfying to watch.
